Terms Of Service

The terms that apply when you book driving lessons with How To Drive.

Last updated: September 2026. By booking a lesson or course with us, you agree to these terms.

1. About These Terms

These terms apply to all driving lessons, block bookings and intensive courses provided by How To Drive Driving School. Please read them before booking, and ask us if anything is unclear.

2. Eligibility

Before your first lesson you must:

  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Hold a valid UK provisional driving licence and bring it to every lesson
  • Meet the DVSA eyesight standard, reading a number plate at 20 metres with glasses or lenses if worn
  • Tell us about any medical condition that may affect your ability to drive

We cannot provide tuition without a valid licence being produced, and a lesson may be cancelled and charged if you cannot present one.

3. Bookings

A booking is confirmed once we have agreed a date and time with you by WhatsApp, phone or email. Online booking requests are enquiries until we confirm them, and we always check availability with you first.

4. Prices And Payment

Our current prices are shown on the lesson prices page. Single lessons are payable at the start of the lesson, and block bookings and intensive courses are payable in advance. We accept bank transfer or cash. Prices may change, but a change never affects hours you have already paid for.

DVSA theory and practical test fees are not included and are paid by you directly to the DVSA.

5. Cancellations And Rescheduling

We ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or rearrange a lesson. Lessons cancelled with less notice may be charged in full, as the slot usually cannot be filled at short notice.

If your instructor has to cancel, through illness, vehicle problems or anything else, you will not be charged and we will rearrange at the earliest opportunity that suits you.

In severe weather or unsafe road conditions a lesson may be cancelled or shortened on safety grounds. You will not be charged for time not taught.

6. Lateness

Lessons start at the agreed time. If you are not ready when your instructor arrives, the lesson still ends at the scheduled finish time so the next learner is not affected. If your instructor is late, that time is made up during the lesson or added to a future one.

7. Block Booking Hours

Block booking hours should be used within six months of purchase and are not transferable to another person. If your circumstances change significantly, talk to us.

8. Refunds

Unused block booking hours may be refunded at our discretion, with lessons already taken charged at our standard hourly rate rather than the discounted block rate. Intensive courses cancelled with less than seven days notice may not be refundable, as instructor time is reserved exclusively for you.

9. Conduct

For everyone's safety you must follow your instructor's directions at all times during a lesson. We may end a lesson immediately, without refund, if you attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs, drive dangerously, refuse instruction or behave abusively. Equally, you can expect professional and respectful treatment from us at all times.

10. Driving Tests

We provide test booking support: advice on timing, test centre availability and readiness. The practical test booking itself is made through the official DVSA service using your own details, and the test fee is paid by you to the DVSA.

Use of the instructor's car for your test is subject to availability and must be arranged in advance. An additional charge may apply for the vehicle and the instructor's time. We reserve the right to decline use of the car if, in the instructor's professional judgement, you are not yet at test standard.

11. The Vehicle

All tuition vehicles are fully insured for driving instruction, maintained to a roadworthy standard and fitted with dual controls. You are covered by our insurance during lessons, provided you hold a valid provisional licence and follow your instructor's directions.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Beyond that, our liability is limited to the value of the lessons you have paid for. We are not responsible for personal belongings left in the vehicle.

13. Complaints

If something goes wrong, contact us as soon as possible on 07475 708546 or at HowToDrive786@gmail.com. We will look into it properly and get back to you.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
